In the Sighting Unseen installation, 12 LCD screens show the panoramic views recorded from within 12 different military observation posts known as "Base-End Stations" - a part of the San Francisco Bay Area early 1900's defense system. These tiny stations served as the "eyes" for Coast Artillery batteries surrounding the Golden Gate, helping gunners calculate ranges to enemy ships. In the installation, the LCD screens are suspended from the ceiling in an average eye-level orienting the ocean. The 24 speakers are concealed in the installation and asynchronously emit single-tonal sounds reminiscent of multiple "Time Interval Bells" echoing.
